In the Netherlands Johan Thorn Prikker (1868-1932) was mainly perceived as one of the most interesting Symbolist artists, although his prints, batiks and furniture designs also received some recognition. In Germany, where he lived from 1904 he was considered primarily a groundbreaking designer of stained glass and spectacular mosaics and wall paintings.
