Barthélemy d'Eyck worked from 1447 to 1470 for René of Anjou, the Count of Provence and King of Naples. He was his chamberlain from 1449 and accompanied him on his journeys. His brother Clément is said to have come from the bishopric of Liege, and it is possible that Barthélemy also stemmed from the Maas area.
