Around 1960, Judd, who has been trained as an artist and art historian, began experimenting with three-dimensional shapes. For his sculptures he mainly used industrial material such as steel, aluminium and plexi-glass. Symbolism and representation are excluded; the whole is for Judd more important than the parts.
