Designer Aart Roelandt developed this futuristic reclining bicycle for the exhibition Sport and Design which was organised in 1986 by Museum Boijmans van Beuningen. The bike Max uses new strong and light materials: Kevlar interwoven with carbon and fibreglass. It has closed wheels, airless tyres, rear suspension, Global Positioning System (GPS) and a personal coach. Propulsion was via a wire or a dynamo with electric motor.
