Here the Parisian painter Rafaëlli has portrayed a colourful figure from the harbour town of Honfleur, Alcazin the lifeguard. Vincent van Gogh greatly admired Rafaëlli's strong figure pieces. His brother Theo van Gogh organised an exhibition of Rafaëlli's work in Paris in 1890.
