More information

Sculptures of scenes from everyday life are very rare indeed, and this young man wounded in a duel is probably even unique. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the genesis of this unusual terracotta. What makes it all the more interesting is that the sculptor, who was active in Leiden for some years after 1670, made a similar terracotta of the city’s law court in full session.
