The Rotterdam based designer Richard Hutten did not view design as a way to solve problems but rather to stimulate the creativity of the user. At first glance, the Sexy Relaxy chair seems rather ponderous, almost as if it has no design. What is immediately striking is the wedge-shaped split in the seat. When designing the chair, Hutten was inspired by the teasing cigarette scene from Paul Verhoeven's film 'Basic instinct' with Sharon Stone. The chair is available in various materials and was first shown in 2005 in the Axis Gallery in Tokyo. This wooden model is from a series of 8, dated 2007.
