The prints of lansquenets and Turks must have been very widespread in their day, but nowadays they are extremely rare. They were stuck on walls as decoration, so many impressions were lost over the years. The two rediscovered sets escaped this fate. The condition of the sheets suggests that they were never hung on a wall and that they were stored in an album by a collector at an early stage.
