Het Paapje (in 1945-1965)

Ask anything

  • Julie asked

    Hello!
I just came across your collection of Het Paapje textiles. Do you have any information about the designers who made them? The designer Trude Jalowetz Guermonprez worked for Het Paapje for 6 years and I am looking for any designs that she made for this company.
    Best regards,
    Julie

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Julie, For information about the Dutch designers who worked for 'het Paapje' you could consult the RKD in The Hague or even Het Paapje itself. The firm still exists in the Dutch city of Oldenzaal and is led by Carolien Huizinga. Trude Guermonprez definitely made designs, but it will be difficult to find which ones. In the early years, the fabrics were sold als coming from 'het Paapje' and the designers were not mentioned, so it will take some serious research to find out. Maybe the art historian Petra Timmer , who specialized in Metz and textiles, could help you. Good luck! Els
