Ask anything

  • Edward PATTERSON asked

Was this print engraved by Bolswert or by Danckerts? I am confused. Please help me.

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Edward, this engraving was done by an anonymous artist. He has copied a print by Bolswert (designed by Rubens) and it has been published by Cornelis Dankckerts (I) I hope this is helpful. Best, Els

  • rowena asked

Please, have you the full text write bellow the print? Or do you know the meaning? Many thanks, Rowena

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Rowena, thank you for your question about this print. Our curator of prints and drawings tells me that this these are short parafrases (four in Latin and 12 in Dutch written in rhyme) about the Last Supper as written in the Bible (Marcus and Lucas). All best, Lisa Heinis
