This painting by Govert Flinck is a portrait of the Dutch States General court clerk Dirck Graswinckel and his wife Geertruyt van Loon. There is an obvious section of 'pentimento' or change on this canvas. Initially Graswinckel's hat was on his head and not in his hand. Flinck himself painted out the first hat with a cloud.
