This painting, a gift from eleven art lovers from Rotterdam in 1917, was the first French Impressionist painting in the museum's collection. Everything is blurred in this spring landscape, as if the scene is viewed through the eyelashes. The small dabs of paint give a suggestion of shimmering light.
