    Hello! I study books in pictures. What books are depicted in this picture?

    Hi Julia, according to testimonials Johan de Witt, the man sitting on the bed, was reading the Bible. According to lore it was the book of Judges. Cornelis was recuperating from his torture, so whether the book on the floor is a bible as well is difficult to say. But it could be very well be. Unfortunately when we zoom in on the image, we can't read the text at the top of the page, but it appears that the book does contain legible text.
