In his works, Brianchon creates a ‘poetic reality’: a world of soft harmonies. Despite the various busy patterns, the portrait has a peaceful atmosphere. This is due to the balanced composition and combination of colours: the red belt around her waist and the red strip of wallpaper give the painting a boost without disrupting the balance.
