This small painting once belonged to an altarpiece that is still in its original location in Sinalunga near Siena. It illustrated the lives of the apostles Simon Zelotes and Jude Thaddeus, who appear with the Virgin and Child in the central scene. Here they are about to be martyred after driving the evil spirits out of an idol. It shattered into a thousand pieces.
