Ask anything

  • Christine Gevert asked

May we use the image of the Two Seated Angels Making Music by Gherardo Starnina in a concert announcement for a sacred music event of a non-for-profit organization in the U.S.? Many thanks!

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Christine, the artists died longer than 75 years ago so you can use the image. Please contact images@boijmans.nl for a high res file and information about the photographer. We always request to mention the photographer. Thanks! Els

More information

This fragment illustrates how large altarpieces were sawn down and split up for later collectors. These angels with their portable organ and harp originally made music at the Virgin’s feet. There are now eleven fragments of this altarpiece scattered throughout the world.
