No one knows who painted this still life, but the experts believe that it was made in France around 1650. The artist dignified the few simple elements in his composition. From a white earthenware bowl with fruit, a loaf of bread, a pewter jug and two glasses he created an image that anticipates Cézanne in its power and simplicity.
