No rich Dutch interior in the 18th century was complete without a large long-case clock, also called a grandfather clock. On the top of the clock there is a large rococo crest and an Atlas figure, with the world on his back. The scenes directly above the richly decorated clockface can move. When the hour strikes, the ships bob up and down on the waves.
