Thomas Struth has taken photographs of visitors in several large European museums. This photograph of tourists and children in the Louvre shows the stately gallery with paintings by David. The artist's standpoint creates a diagonal composition of people that echoes that of the large central painting. Thus Struth sets up a dialogue with history.
