Glass cage

Ask anything

  • Rachel Rutstein asked

    Hello,

I am an Art History Undergraduate student at Columbia University in New York and I am writing a senior thesis on Louise Lawler's "Glass Cage." Are there any sources you could recommend where I can find more information about Lawler and this image in particular? Thank you so much.

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Rachel, Since you are in New York, the MoMA library is nearby. It definitely will have publications about Louise Lawler and the possible meanings of her display-images. For this particular piece it might be good to do some research on Degas and his dancers too, especially about the sculpture with the gauze skirt. Good luck! Els
