The mountings of this unusual table knife are inlaid with transparent amber plates. Under them are the coat of arms of the Counts of Henegouwen and Holland, painted with tempera on an undercoat of gold leaf. Thanks to the coat of arms, the knife can be dated between 1299 and 1345.
