This somewhat stiff, motionless study is probably the last in the series. The
horse rears up slightly higher than in the preceding drawings and the head
is depicted almost in profile. Remarkable in all these drawings is that the
horse’s anatomy is not quite right: the neck is far too broad and it therefore
almost seems as if the horseman is being forced backwards.
