Study for St Joseph Standing in 'The Presentation in the Temple' of the 'Del Pugliese Tabernacle', from the collection of Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence.

This chalk study for Joseph in ‘The Presentation in the Temple’ shows him

standing at a tabletop, bending forward slightly. His left hand is hidden from

view by a fold and rests on the table. At bottom left there is a rougher variant

with the figure in a different pose: the left leg bent and leaning heavily on the

left arm. Yet the artist was still not satisfied and made a new drawing of the

figure.
