Study for the Flying Angel at Top Right in 'The Nativity', from the collection of Musée du Louvre, Paris.

On one side this sheet has a study for the flying angel at top right; the other side shows – upside down – a study for the foremost strolling angel at bottom right. Both drawings were adopted virtually unchanged in the painting. They had evidently already been drawn for another project, because of the indication of the ground in both and a cloth in the angel’s arms in the first, which were omitted in this painting.
