Two Studies for the Kneeling St John in the 'Pitti Pietà', from the collection of Galleria Palatina, Florence.

This drawing is linked to a Pietà - a picture of the Madonna mourning with the dead body of Christ - which Fra Bartolommeo painted for a church in San Gallo near Florence. It was acquired by the De’ Medici family in 1619. This is a study for the fgure of the kneeling St John on the left. The model for it was probably a workshop assistant.
