Ask anything

  • Kim van Straten asked

    wat is Coloured linocut?

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Kim, a linocut is a printing technique comparable to a woodcut: the artist cuts with a sharp tool (a gouge) into the material (linoleum) and the parts that are not cut away will construct the image. Often the prints are in one color (black on white), but in this case Picasso used several colors. I hope this is helpful. Kind regards, Els
