Graphic works in the style of international mannerism form the important section of the museum's Print Collection. The heart of this section is represented by the Fontainebleau School. From 1528 on, a group of French and Italian artists were working in Fontainebleau decorationg the palace for the French king, François I. Many of the decoration designs were also turned into prints. The scene here, showing an elephant decorated with fleur-de-lys, is derived form a painted decoration.
