‘Paysages et intérieurs’ (Landscapes and Interiors) was publishedshortly after Bonnard’s ‘Quelques aspects de la vie de Paris’, likewise in twelve parts and in an edition of a hundred copies. Whereas Bonnard concentrated on street scenes in his coloured lithographs, Vuillard focused on interiors for his series. They are intimate scenes, simple and hushed. The compositions are characterized by large planes of colour and rhythmical colour patterns.
