While he was resting, the Trojan warrior Paris dreamed that he had to choose which of the three goddesses, Hera, Pallas Athena or Aphrodite, was the most beautiful. The three naked goddesses stand in woodland surroundings beside Paris as he sleeps on the ground. To the left is the divine messenger Hermes. The drawing in white body colour on a coloured support is typical of the Danube School. Albrecht Altdorfer was its most important representative.
