The artist H. Swaan is known only from the inscription on the verso
of this drawing, which translates as ‘these birds are found in the
collection of Burgomaster Geevaerts of Rotterdam. H:Swaan fecit
27-5-1775’. The Asian Paradise Flycatchers at lower left are two
males of a dimorphic species; below we see a male of the white
form, above one of the brown form.
