Watermark | (1) Hand, surmounted by a trefoil (75x18mm; vV, 8P), similar to Briquet 11465 (Lorraine, doc. 1508-40); a similar watermark of this type, as regards the lower half with the sleeve (as it is fragmented), is found in another drawing associated with the same artist, Patinir (inv. no. N 15) and in a drawing by Jan Gossaert (inv. no. N 139); (2) in the backing paper: coat of arms, shield with a sickle (faucille), supported by a crowned double-headed eagle (vV, 8P), very similar to Briquet 6164 (Klagenfurt-Eisenkappel, Austria, 1590-92), also found in a drawing by Pieter Bruegel (inv. no.
