Public-Private Partnership
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is a splendid example of a unique public-private partnership. Those involved are Rotterdam City Council, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and Stichting De Verre Bergen. Stichting De Verre Bergen is a philanthropic organization that has been championing a stronger and better Rotterdam since 2011.
A new depot building demands considerable investment, certainly when a depot is accessible to visitors. Sharing the collection with the public calls for extra investment in such things as climate control, security, catering facilities and routing. The building costs are being covered by Rotterdam City Council and Stichting De Verre Bergen. It was the generous gift from Stichting De Verre Bergen that made it possible to make the depot accessible to the public.
The interior of the building will be absolutely spectacular. A visit to Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen will be an unforgettable experience. To finance this interior the museum has launched ‘Build with us’ a fund-raising campaign aimed at private individuals, funds and businesses.
