In the South of Rotterdam, institutional consortiums have been working on new hybrid places where museum, education, and the city meet, inevitably engaging with the relational reality of the area. Instituting Relationality: on Innovating Modes of Working between Museum and School is addressing professionals working in Rotterdam South and beyond who want to contribute to developing new principles, working methods and structures of institutional partnerships.
Through a dialogue between theory and practice and through conversational formats, we ask: What will happen if bodies, alliances and temporalities outside institutional infrastructures become the foundation for knowledge and culture production? How does this vision transform the ties of museums and schools to the communities of vibrant living bodies, human and more-than-human, of an (urban) land? Moreover, what is the impact on existing institutional relations of acknowledging the value that emerges outside them?
Instituting Relationality: on Innovating Modes of Working between Museum and School is organized in collaboration between Zuid. Boijmans Van Beuningen, Cultuur & Campus Putselaan and Centre of Expertise Social Innovation. With contributions by Monica Narula (Raqs Media Collective), Hicham Khalidi (Jan van Eyck Academy), Reza Afisina (ruruHaus), Dave de Held (EMI), Yoeri Meessen (Museum Boijmans Van Beunigen) & Janpier Brands (Cultuur & Campus Putselaan) and many others.
