Open call
Boijmans Hillevliet offers a commission (art assignment) to artists or artists' collectives who experiment with social art practices and who want to invest in the development of their own professional practice. We are particularly interested in proposals from artists connected to the local and global south.
For whom
For artists and art collectives who use their work to explore how new connections are made between art, heritage and local communities. Is collective learning, participation and the creative process central to your artistic practice? Do you like to work with local residents, children or partners in the neighbourhood? Then we are looking for you.
What we offer
With this commission comes support in the form of knowledge, time and logistical support to realize an art project at our location in Rotterdam South. From October to December 2022, we will provide a work/presentation space at the Boijmans location in Hillevliet 90. We offer an artist fee of € 12,000 and a materials budget of € 28,000. During this period, the space will remain open to the public during opening hours.
Boijmans Hillevliet
Boijmans Hillevliet is located in the former technical school at Hillevliet 90, in the middle of the Feijenoord district. Here conversations are being had about what can be learned from the South. Everyone is welcome at this meeting place where residents, students and artists come together, and collectively organize a wide ranging programme of activities. Together we are working on a new museum concept at the interface between culture, social practice and education.
