Twothousand-meter-meal
In the summer of 2023, Rotterdam will put all the spotlights on South. A major event, which lasts all summer long, puts South on the map and shows what South has to offer. In the form of cultural wealth, but also in undiscovered places.
The Twothousand-meter-meal is a free two-kilometre discovery tour through South Rotterdam full of food, music, visual arts, heritage and stories. On August 20, you will walk from Katendrecht to Hillesluis along five different locations, each with its own course.
Zuid. Boijmans Van Beuningen is organizing the Twothousand-meter-meal together with Niffo, Putsebocht 3, Grondstoffenstation and Verhalenhuis Belvédère. During this buffet, there will be something to taste at every location along the route, but the locations also organize their own programming where you can do, hear, watch or experience something.
There is no fixed route in the walk. You can start the route at any location. Especially for this day there is also a free electric shuttle bus between Verhalenhuis Belvédère and NIFFO.
Programming At Zuid. Boijmans Van Beuningen, Curaçao Pastechi's are baked in the kitchen of Mensa Mensa. The Rotterdam band Tribu Tambu will perform and Quentley Barbara unveils his latest sculpture. You can also join a free walk-in workshop in De Kunstwerkplaats.
There is also plenty to do at the other locations. For example, you can taste various snacks at Verhalenhuis Belvédère while you visit artist-in-residence Fatima Barznge. NIFFO will open a new exhibition called 'Colourful Rotterdam from North to South'. The Wijkkeuken van Zuid makes the tastiest soup and smoothies from residual vegetables and fruit in the Grondstoffenstation. And visit the artists of Putsebocht 3 who will show you, hear and taste what they make.
