Odilon Redon is famous for scenes of disquieting dreams and visions. It is far less well known that he also painted dozens of landscapes. He regarded them simply as studies, and seldom showed them to anyone. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has three of these rare little paintings. Their stark simplicity makes them at least as poetic as Redon’s Symbolist work.
