The Tooth-Puller

Ask anything

  • Anny asked

    Goodmorning,
This week an old friend gave me an engravement like this in color. It was a presented to her husband, who was a dentist. I’m trying to find out when its made and where it comes from. Can you help me?
    Greetings,
    Anny

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Anny, Thank you for your question. From what you tell me I gather that you obtained a reproduction from a painting showing this subject, not an engraving. It might be a reproduction from 'The quack tooth puller' by Theodor Rombouts in the Prado museum in Madrid: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Theodoor_Rombouts_-_The_quack_tooth_puller.jpg. I hope this is helpful. Kind regards, Els
