Ask anything

  • Anna asked

Is there an oil painting of the same pictur?

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Anna, Allegories on the (four) seasons have been made by many artists in many different techniques. In this case the composition is designed by the painter Gerard de Lairesse and executed as a print by Van Munnickhuysen. De Lairesse painted a lot of allegories, but neither me nor our curator knows by heart if one of them has exactly the same picture as this print. To know you should consult the De Lairesse oeuvre catalogue by Alain Roy. Good luck with your research! Els
