Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen received this photographs on long-term loan from H+F Patronage following Sylvie Zijlmans’ solo exhibition The Uninvited in 2006. The huge figure ‘Meami’ is named after a Korean hurricane. Drenched through from head to toe, she stares menacingly at the viewer. Because of the extremely large format and the sharpness of the photograph, the young woman appears to transcend her human characteristics: she seems to symbolise both the destructive storms itself and its victims.
