Keirincx earlier work continued the landscape tradition of Jan Brueghel and Abraham Govaerts. His earliest known works date from the years 1619 and 1620; they are somewhat mannered in style and old-fashioned in composition. This “Forest view”, dated 1630, has already moved on from these. The figures on Keirincx’s landscapes are generally by another hand. On this work, they could have been painted by Pauwels van Hellegaert (1595/96-1640) or by Hendrick Pacx (1602/03-after1658), who specialised in painting horse riders.
