More information

This painting depicts 15 types of flowers, eight butterflies, six snails, a spider, and ladybird, a mouse, caterpillars, ants and 46 water droplets. Because of the lines which predominantly lean to the left and the density of flowers which increases in the middle, with the white rose at the centre, the painter has achieved the effect of a whirlpool. The variety of flowers gives this painting something of an encyclopedic character.
