  • Alicia VilĂ  asked

Good afternoon and thank you for offering your help. I would like to have some information about the processions of cripples and beggars, in the 16th century Flanders, and its representations in art. Could you please tell me where could I read about it? Thanks a lot!

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Alicia, maybe you can consult The Golden Age book: Dutch paintings (2014), and there has been an exhibition on poverty in the Golden Age in 1965 in the Amsterdam Historisch Museum. They have a publication also called: Arm in de gouden eeuw. Maybe you'll find usefull information there too. Good luck!
