Basket of Flowers

Ask anything

  • Michael Echevarria asked

    Hello
I’m doing some research on your Jan Van Huijsum painting, Basket of flowers, currently in your depot. I know it was acquired by DG van Beuningen in 1958 but I need some information on its provenance before then. Where and who it was acquired from and any other information you may have regarding this painting would be greatly appreciated. It’s for a school project.
    Thanks and regards
    Michael

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Michael, The painting was acquired by the museum in 1958, together with the rest of D.G. van Beuningen's collection. He bought it from the art dealer Jacques Goudstikker and before this, is was in the collection of P. Gevers and in a private collection in Paris. The name of this collection is unknown to us. I hope this is helpful. Kind regards, Els
