  • miron asked

    Hello,

    One little question.
Who is the best or most famous painter of clouds and sky?

    Thank you.

    Yours,
    Miron Murcury

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Miron, I would not dare to say who is the best or famous painter of skies here. But Jacob van Ruisdael is definitely a name that comes up a lot. All best, Lisa Heinis.

  • miron asked

    Hello,

Your country's cloud paintings are the most beautiful, expressive and lush of anywhere in the world!
Do your clouds really look like what painters show us or are the clouds an affectation, a stylized version of real life?
Did painters compete with each other to make the most glorious sky possible?

Thank you for your answers and time.

    Yours,
    Miron Murcury

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Miron, thank you so much for the kind words about Dutch painting styles. I must say that I do not have all the answers to your questions, but I can say that clouds really do look like that here. Nature really has helped us to become good at painting them! Have a wonderful day, all best, Lisa Heinis
