The seven blocks of wood fitted into each other to form a straight line and the palisade-like pillar behind them constitute a single work. Together they point to the solid treetrunk they came from. Wijntjes is basing his work on the way in which wood is found in nature. From the tree-trunk, which is used to the very limit, pieces of wood have been cut out by means of sawing and chiselling. In the sculture made from these forms the relationship between the original shape of the trunk, the work process and the final sculpture can still be seen.
