Louis-Gabriël, called ‘l’Aîné’ (the elder), was the slightly older brother of the famous Jean-Michel Moreau. He is now considered to be one of the predecessors of 19th-century French landscape painters such as Corot. Moreau made paintings, watercolours and gouaches of landscapes, mainly around Paris.
