Study of the Head of a Friar for God the Father in the ‘Padre Eterno', from the collection of Museo Nazionale di Villa Guinigi, Lucca.

There is little doubt that a monk posed for this study of the head of a bald

man, considering the collar of his clothing. Fra Bartolommeo made several

drawings of the same person. For the head of God the Father in the painting

he used a different drawing, now in Berlin, in which the gaze of the monk is

directed downward.
