This 15th-century wooden box is actually a miniature version of a large-sized trunk. The front is decorated with detailed carved window work. The box has been fitted with an open iron key plate with key. Iron hangings have been fitted to the top of lid for reinforcement. Such boxes were often used for storing valuable personal possessions, such a private documents, jewels or money.
