On view from 29 september: 'Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen at Rijksmuseum'
From Friday 29 September 2023 more than eighty pieces from the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen are on view in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The exhibition at the Rijksmuseum is as diverse and thought-provoking as you would expect from our collection.
In addition to classic masterpieces such as Pieter Bruegel’s The Tower of Babel, Vincent van Gogh’s Portrait of Armand Roulin and Edgard Degas’ sculpture Little Dancer of Fourteen Years, visitors can see contemporary works by Cindy Sherman and Sarah Lucas. Other favourites from the collection include Hieronymus Bosch’s The Pedlar, Rembrandt’s Titus at His Desk and Salvador Dalí’s Shirley Temple. Three-dimensional works include Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Room, a Donald Judd sculpture in the museum’s atrium and Bruce Nauman’s Double Steel Cage Piece. Ugo Rondinone’s illuminated sculpture Breathe, Walk, Die has been installed on the Museumplein façade, where it is visible day and night to passers-by.

The renovation and renewal of our own monumental museum building were the main inspiration for organising this exhibition with our colleagues at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. One of the greatest art collections in the Netherlands can now be seen in one of the country’s most prestigious museums, giving visitors an opportunity to see all their beloved works together again in a museum setting.
'Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen at Rijksmuseum' is on display from 29 September 2023 to 14 January 2024 in the Philips Wing of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
